GLOW WORLD

Glow World is the name of my favourite song by Bill Nelson who was such a big musical presence in my teens. I played his music to friends and family but nobody was impressed so I kept him for myself. The song appeared on his EP ‘Chimera’ (does anyone even know what an EP is these days?). It featured the unmistakable sound of the beautiful and tragic Mick Karn on bass, and the Yellow Magic Orchestra’s Yukihiro Takahashi on drums. It has a strange eastern sound that still appeals to me. In fact a lot of his music has a Scheherazade quality that transports you to other worlds, none more so than his 1982 album The Love that Whirls (Diary of a Thinking Heart).
